Image Watermark Removal Settings Guide

Everything the image sliders do — in plain English.

Erasio removes the Gemini sparkle by mathematically “un-blending” it: it finds the watermark, then reverses the exact overlay that was painted on top. These settings control two things — how the watermark is FOUND (detection) and how hard it is REMOVED (cleanup). You almost never need them: the defaults clean the vast majority of images in one click. Reach for a setting only when a specific image fights back, and change one thing at a time while watching the preview.

Detection

How Erasio locates the watermark before touching a pixel.

Trust auto-margin if NCC ≥

Default 0.500.20.9

Confidence needed to trust the default position and skip the scan.

If the match score (normalized cross-correlation) at the standard corner is at or above this, the tool trusts it and skips the slower sliding-window search. Higher = stricter and more thorough (more scanning); lower = faster but risks accepting a weak match.

Leave at the default unless removals land slightly off-position.

Below this, the tool reports no watermark and leaves the image untouched. Lower it to 0.20–0.25 when faint or low-contrast watermarks are being missed; raise it to prevent false positives on already-clean images.

Smaller strides search more positions — slower, but they catch stamps sitting off the usual grid. 8 px balances speed and accuracy; drop to 2–4 px for stubborn clips where the watermark has clearly shifted.

After the coarse pass finds a rough spot, this does a pixel-by-pixel refine within the given radius so the mask lands precisely. A larger radius means more precise placement (cleaner removal); set it to 0 to disable the refine entirely.

How aggressively the located watermark is subtracted.

Detection always uses the calibrated size; only cleanup uses this scaled map. Nudge it to 1.10–1.40× if you see a faint halo of fringe glow left around where the watermark was. Too high starts softening clean pixels next to the stamp.

Correction strength when the stamp has moved from its usual corner.

When Gemini shifts the watermark away from the expected bottom-right margin, the reverse-blend applies this gentler gain (video-calibrated) to avoid over-darkening. Raise it toward 1.0 if a moved watermark is not fully removed; lower it if drifted removals look too dark.

Alpha ceiling

Default 0.990.51

Caps how hard near-opaque pixels are corrected.

The reverse-blend divides by (1 − opacity), which can blow up as opacity approaches 1. This ceiling keeps that division stable. Lower it slightly (about 0.95) if bright specks or artifacts appear where a very solid part of the watermark used to be.

Pixels whose watermark opacity falls below this are skipped during the reverse-blend, since they are essentially unaffected. Raise it to leave near-transparent fringe alone; lower it to also treat the faintest edges. The default is safe for almost every image.

Pick “New (2026)” when you are cleaning the redesigned Gemini sparkle, and “Original” for older captures. If the watermark shape does not match the map, removal leaves a faint residue — switch versions before touching anything else.

The assumed brightness of the watermark colour.

255 means pure white, which matches most Gemini sparkles. If your watermark is off-white or light grey and is not coming off cleanly, lower this to match its actual brightness so the maths subtracts the right colour.

Pin the watermark position on the image

Detection finds the watermark for you — but when Google moves it off the usual bottom-right corner and the scan can't lock on, place the mask by hand from the settings preview.

Hit Auto any time to clear your pin and hand detection back to the engine.

The pin is per-image and isn't saved — Gemini places the watermark differently per resolution, so re-pin it for each new upload when auto-detect misses.

Tips & best practices

  • Change one setting at a time and watch the corner preview — it’s the fastest way to see what a knob actually does.
  • If a watermark isn’t coming off, fix DETECTION first (is the mask on the mark?) before touching cleanup strength.
  • The “Watermark logo” version is the highest-impact setting. If removal leaves obvious residue, try the other version before anything else.
  • Hit “Reset image” to return to defaults any time you’ve tuned yourself into a corner.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Cranking Mask size way up to “be safe” — it softens clean pixels next to the watermark instead of helping.
  • Lowering “Min NCC to accept” so far that the tool starts finding watermarks on already-clean images.
  • Tuning cleanup sliders when the real problem is the wrong logo version or a mis-placed mask.
